What we do

Four things, and they all start with turning up

No clipboards, no name badges, no going round the room. Just men doing something together, which turns out to be the easiest way to talk.

Move

Walks, runs, gym sessions, five a side, hikes and sea swims. Whatever gets you off the sofa and out of your own head.

Talk

Side by side, not face to face. Football, work, kids, and sometimes the thing you have not said out loud yet.

Support

A rough patch, a recovery, an injury, a divorce, a redundancy. Whatever you are carrying, you are not carrying it on your own.

Inspire

Goals, challenges, workshops and a bit of friendly competition. Something in the diary to aim at, every single month.

What's on this week

Pick one. Turn up. That's the whole trick.

Full calendar

Booking takes ten seconds and sends you a reminder the day before. Cannot make it? Cancel in one tap.

Who it's for

If you are a bloke, you are in

You do not need to be fit, sporty, sociable or sorted. You do not need a reason. Half the men here arrived on their own and knew nobody.

Any age

Our youngest regular is 19 and our oldest is 78. They walk together most Saturdays.

Any ability

Wheelchair friendly routes, seated sessions, and a walking group on every run. Ten minutes on your feet is enough to start.

Any background

Labourers, teachers, veterans, students, retired lads, new dads. Nobody asks what you do for a living.

Any reason

Fitness, fresh air, company, or because the house has been very quiet lately. All of them count.

Programmes

Something to aim at

Short, practical courses that give the week some shape and leave you with something you did not have before.

6 weeks, Thursdays

Back on your feet

A gentle return to moving after illness, injury, surgery, or simply a long stretch of doing nothing. Physio led, no heroics.

One evening a month

Useful Stuff nights

Sleep, money, cooking for one, first aid, keeping your back in one piece. Practical things nobody ever taught us.

“I came for the running because the doctor told me to. I stayed because on a Monday night there are eleven blokes who notice if I am not there.”

Join in

Free to join, and takes about a minute

You can turn up to most sessions without an account. Having one just means you book faster, get the reminders, and can see who else is coming.

  • Book in one tap and get a reminder the day before, so it is harder to talk yourself out of it.

  • Go by whatever name you like. First name, initials, a nickname. Only the people who run the club see anything else.

  • Leave whenever you want. One button wipes your details for good, no awkward conversation.

Get involved

More than a charity. A movement.

Give a little, monthly

Ten pounds a month covers the hall, the head torches and the hot drinks for one session. Every session stays free because somebody else paid it forward.

Donate

Lead a session

You do not need to be a coach. You need to be the kind of bloke who notices the man walking at the back. We will train you and cover your costs.

Volunteer

Positive energy, shared

We believe good energy is contagious. Walk together, have a laugh, talk about whatever is on your mind and help each other keep moving forward.

Be part of it

Before you come

The questions every man asks

Do I need to be fit?

No. Every run has a walking group and the walks go at the pace of the slowest man there. If you can stay on your feet for ten minutes you will be fine, and if you cannot, we have seated sessions too.

Do I have to talk about anything?

Not a word. Plenty of men come for months and talk about nothing heavier than the football. Nobody goes round the room and nobody will ask you why you came.

Can I bring a mate?

Please do. Half the men here were dragged along by somebody else. Bring your brother, your neighbour, your dad, or the bloke at work who has gone quiet.

Is it actually free?

Yes, all of it. No membership, no joining fee, no kit list. It runs on donations and local sponsors, which is why the donate button is where it is.

What if I turn up and hate it?

Then you go home and you never come back, and nobody will chase you. Most men who feel like that on week one are still here at week ten, but that is entirely your call.
